The HearSay Prize 2017

Entries Fees & Submission Deadlines

All times are Irish Standard Time (IST)

 

The following are the entry fees and deadlines:

 

Student Entries 25 Euro for student entries (in full-time education on February28th 2017  OR not having reached their 21st birthday by 28th February 2017) and uploaded BEFORE 2400 hours IST Febuary 28th 2017.

 

All Other Entries --        

EARLYBIRD DEADLINE - 45 Euros per entry before 15th December 2016 at 2400 hours IST  

FINAL DEADLINE - 65 Euro per entry before 28th February 2017  at 2400 hours IST.

 

Entry for the equivalent amount in other currencies is possible (see below) Credit card and Paypal payments are both accepted.

 

Payment by cheque/check is not possible.  

 

Any entries uploaded after 2400 hours IST on 28th February 2017 will not be judged.

 

 

Eligibility

 

Stream 1 - CREATE

Entries should be between 2 minutes (2.00) and 7 minutes (7.00) in duration.

 

Each piece entered should be especially created for the HearSay Audio Prize or be uniquely entered for the HearSay prize. It should not have been broadcast, or otherwise been widely publicly heard, nor should it be extracted from another longer piece.

 

All entries should be stand alone.

 

Multiple entries from the same producer(s) are allowed

 

Entries may be produced in any language. An option is provided to provide an English language transcript and this should be used where the understanding by the judges of the meaning of the words used is important.

 

The producer(s) of each audio piece submitted, must confirm when entering, their acceptance of the release and license agreement on the entry form to grant HearSay with broadcast, Internet and live playout rights to present entries in their complete form to inspire others.

 

 

Stream 2 - CELEBRATE

Entries should be between 2 minutes (2.00) and 7 minutes (7.00) in duration.

 

Entries here may have been created at any time before 31st December 2016 and broadcast, podcast, exhibited or otherwise disseminated. However they may also be reworked, extracted, or reimagined for entry into this competition.

 

All entries should be stand alone.

Entries may be produced in any language. An option is provided to provide an English language transcript and this should be used where the understanding by the judges of the meaning of the words used is important.

Copyright & Creative Commons Material

You should be the copyright owner of all material contained within the piece or have cleared/licenced all necessary rights. These should extend to the rights you grant to HearSay. Material used under a creative commons (CC) licence should be consistent with the terms and restriction of the licence for that material, This should include the uses granted to HearSay and attributed accordingly in the credits section of the entry form.

 

Full copyright in the piece will remain with the producer(s).

 

 

Entries from those under the age of 18

If under 18, the submission of an entry is viewed as confirmation of the agreement by the entrants parent or guardian to the entry being submitted and of the licencing agreement. Additional written confirmation of this may be sought by the HearSay organisers.

 

An award winner who is under the age of 18 shall be granted the full award but if travelling to HearSay Festival must be accompanied at all times by a parent or guardian.  Please note, the prize does not cover travel costs for the parent or guardian.

 

 

Currencies accepted for Entry/Currency for Payment

We wish to encourage entries from all around the world. Entry payments are accepted in US Dollars, Canadian Dollars, Australian Dollars, Sterling, and Euros.  You can choose which currency you wish to pay for your entry when you make your entry.

 

 

 

Awards

Where the award includes flights and other accommodation, these will be paid and arranged by the HearSay Festival organisers in relation to participation in the HearSay Festival and will not be transferrable. No cash equivalent will be paid where the person travelling can not take up the travel related element of the award.

 

Travel related award winners will be notified by May 2017 to allow time to travel.

 

Flights are awarded to those who are not normally resident on the island of Ireland only.

 

Entrants are eligible for multiple prizes within the HearSay Prize 2017 structure. An entrant may win multiple prizes, however flights, accommodation and software licences are not cumulative. 

 

 

Technical Requirements

Entries can only be accepted through our HearSay entry form on Submittable, where you'll find clear instructions for uploading your Entry.

 

Entries should consist of ONE audio file which must be in 44.1K 16-bit WAV format.

 

You should keep a copy of your audio.

 

Entries should not contain audio other than entry material.
